Hula Hoop Size & Weight Guide
This guide will give you an indication of which hula hoop size and weight is suitable for you. The correct hoop size and weight is dependant on abillity, body size and height.
There are many hula hoop tricks which are much easier to learn with a bigger heavier hoop and others which require lighter or smaller hoops so ultimately this will also effect which hoop is right for you and you may wish to experiment with different sizes and weights as you progress.
We have 3 different weight options:
Fitness - Our heaviest range of hula hoops, suitable for adults and older teenagers.
Dance - Our mid weight range of hula hoops, suitable for adults, teenagers and older children.
Pro - Our lightest range of hula hoops, suitable for professional use and great for kids.
Basically the bigger and heavier the hula hoop is the slower it will rotate around your body which makes learning new moves and tricks a lot easier. A heavier hoop is also a lot easier to keep going and will fall to the ground less often when learning. Most adults will struggle to keep a traditional childs toy hoop going for more than a few seconds purely because they are too small and light.
All our hoops come in a variety of sizes, if you are a beginner and you are not sure which size is best then measure from the floor to your waist height and pick a hoop with a similar diameter to this measurement.
If you have a petite/slim build (for girls thats approx UK Dress Size 8 or below) our Fitness Hula Hoops may be a little on the heavy side and you may prefer a Dance Hula Hoop. To avoid injury we do not recommend children use our Fitness Hula Hoops as they are too heavy and not designed for their use.
