Seduced By Circus was founded in 2008 by Charlie Ledger. Created from her passion for hula hooping, circus arts and fitness. Seduced By Circus provides training and performances across the UK and internationally.
As a professional circus performer; Charlie specialises in hula hoop, and has recently been focussing on learning cyr wheel, but she has also trained in a variety of disciplines including pole dancing, tightwire, acrobalance, aerial silks, juggling, poi and other circus skills.
In late 2006, Charlie joined Flying Teapots, the University of Sheffield's juggling society (although she was not actually a student, but was still allowed to become a member), and she attended local 'Poi in the Park' gatherings, which is where she discovered her addiction to hula hooping. She then volunteered and completed an internship at Swamp Circus Trust, and went on to complete the full time Circus in Performance Course in 2009, at Greentop Circus in South Yorkshire, where she focussed on tightwire, aerial silks and hula hoop.
Charlie has since completed City & Guilds Level 3 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS). She also holds REPs approved qualifications; Level 2 Exercise to Music Fitness Instructor, and Level 2 Health Related Exercise for children. Charlie has a wealth of teaching experience in the health and fitness industry, in schools and with various youth organisations, as well as working as an associate lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University.
Charlie is currently studying the BSc Sports Technology course at Sheffield Hallam University, with the aim of using this engineering knowledge to develop future products for use in the circus and fitness industries. Charlie has recently been awarded funding through the student union's Grow It Innovation Award for Social Enterprise, she is currently developing circus equipment which will be available from the social enterprise 'Serendipity Circus CIC'. More information about this coming soon - watch this space!
Charlie was also the president and founder of Circus Hallam, Sheffield Hallam University Circus Skills Society. Through the university society she recently organised and hosted the European Hula Hoop (& Sheffield Circus Skills) Convention 2012, and Sheffield Circus Gathering 2013. As a result of her hard work setting up the society and organising events, she gained national recognition winning the RBS ESSA (Enterprising Student Society Accreditation) Award for most innovative event. she plans to organise more events in future through 'Serendipity Circus CIC'.
Charlie has been a contributor for The Hoop Hub, a UK and Ireland based hooping blog, written by a team of contributors that represents the UK and Ireland hoop scene.
Charlie's main aim at the moment is mastering the art of cyr wheel. She has completed a master class with Jo Moss at the Generating Company's creation centre in the south of France. More recently she travelled to Switzerland to participate in a master class with the amazing Valerie Inertie. She is training hard to develop new acts and become a teacher of this discpline.
